Overall, more than 6,000 institutions, agencies, and organizations in over 110 countries use TOEFL test scores. The test is administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS). The TOEFL test is offered in different formats depending on a test taker's location:
- Computer-based Testing (CBT)
- Paper-based Testing (PBT)
- Internet-based Testing (iBT)
The computer- and paper-based (CBT, PBT) versions of the TOEFL test will be given at a particular location until the Internet-based version is implemented.
Starting September 2006, in Moldova, the TOEFL test is offered in Internet-based Testing (iBT) format at an authorized ETS test center.
